Introducing…. Shannon Harris, Erasmus+ Intern
Greetings from the Global Office in St Andrews!
I promise to deliver blog posts from more exciting locations in the future, but I thought I’d start with an introduction.

My name is Shannon Harris and I’m the new Erasmus+ Global Office intern for 2019-2020, alongside the BA International Honours intern, Christina Durham, who you will be hearing from shortly.
My role is the Global Office is to assist those applying for study abroad. This can be on the Erasmus+ scheme or elsewhere to our partner institutions around the world and support those currently abroad as well. We offer support for returning students and pester them with endless emails to get them to speak about their study abroad experience; they are an excellent resource for our second years! On top of that, we also manage the social media accounts for the Global Office to disseminate information and share student experiences.
I am currently in my fifth year at St Andrews, studying French and Latin and I spent my year abroad working for British Council as a language assistant in Toulouse, France. I can wax poetic for hours on this fabulous year abroad and extol the virtues of spending time abroad as part of your degree, so if you need persuasion, don’t hesitate to ask!
I moved to Tarbes, a town at the foot of the Pyrénées, in September 2017; it was a small town in comparison to Toulouse but offered great transport links and even a Galeries Lafayette. I taught in a lycée général, ages 15-20 and helped out in English classes doing focused work with small groups and running an English Club for student anglophiles.
It was a great experience for me, and I am now honoured to be helping those who are aiming to study and work abroad. Whether you want to develop your language skills, confidence, resilience or general worldliness, take the plunge and live abroad!
